Q: What is your favourite subject to teach and why?

A: English is definitely a passion of mine, as it allows me to be creative and thought-provoking. I enjoy the fact that language can be used to tell stories, evoke emotions, and communicate ideas. English is a subject that, when embraced, invites every reader to interpret and find a meaning that is unique to them. Essentially, there is no right or wrong.

Q: How would you describe your teaching philosophy in a sentence?

A: Teaching should be authentic, student led and encourage critical thinking and independent decision making within each student's zone of proximal development.

Q: What is your top teaching tip?

A: Prioritise students' social and emotional wellbeing, as meaningful learning occurs only when they feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. A positive and inclusive environment fosters engagement, confidence, and deeper understanding.

Q: Do you have a favourite quote that inspires your teaching or leadership?

A: 'If we create a culture where every teacher believes they need to improve, not because they are not good enough but because they can be even better, there is no limit to what we can achieve.' Dylan Wiliam

Q: How do you inspire your students to reach their potential?

A: Through leading by example, setting high personal standards and co-learning.

Q: What is one change you would like to see in education?

A: Shift the measure of success from knowledge to skills.

Q: What is your favourite way to unwind after a long day or busy term?

A: Family time.
