Q: What is your favourite subject to teach and why?

A: I love teaching all subjects and the variety as a Primary School trained teacher, but one subject I really enjoy is English. I love watching the students gain confidence in their reading and writing and unlock their creativity.

Q: How would you describe your teaching philosophy in a sentence?

A: To create a safe, supportive environment where all students can thrive and reach their potential.

Q: What is your top teaching tip?

A: Invest time in building a strong rapport with your students. Establishing trust and creating a positive, supportive classroom environment encourages open communication and fosters a sense of belonging. When students feel respected and understood, they are more likely to engage, take risks, and ultimately reach their full potential. Building those personal connections not only enhances learning but also cultivates a space where students feel safe.

Q: Do you have a favourite quote that inspires your teaching or leadership?

A: "Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere." – Chinese Proverb

Q: How do you inspire your students to reach their potential?

A: I inspire my students to reach their potential by helping them discover their passions, fostering self-motivation, and encouraging them to set personal goals that drive their learning journey.

Q: What is one change you would like to see in education?

A: I would like to see a move away from traditional methods of assessing knowledge and towards designing assessments that emphasise skills. This would give all students the opportunity to showcase their understanding in ways that suit their individual strengths.

Q: What is your favourite way to unwind after a long day or busy term?

A: I think it is really important to take the time to transition from work to home. I enjoy spending time at the end of the day in the kitchen cooking something yummy for dinner!
